Square Anything but square&nbsp; In 2019, Fed Square launched its bold new identity with the Anything But Square Festival. A boundary-pushing celebration of art, culture and innovation that reintroduced the precinct as Melbourne’s cultural heart. I was brought in to lead the creative direction for the launch campaign, shaping the storytelling across digital, social and brand collateral. Alongside the external campaign, I also developed an internal communications strategy designed to bring employees on the journey, embedding the new brand into the workplace culture. The Anything But Square Festival transformed Fed Square from a civic meeting place into a dynamic cultural stage. From immersive underground dining experiences and virtual-reality performances to global Tweetups and winter wonderlands, the program embodied the new positioning: fearless, inclusive and alive with possibility. The impact was immediate. Internally, staff engagement rose as employees felt energised and connected to the brand. Execution How do you get past people's antagonism towards the issue and get them to spread an Aids prevention message nobody wants to hear about: you make them do it without knowing. We created a band named SDIA, released a song "Going All The Way" and sent it to all radio stations. On World Aids Day, after the song caught and people engaged and shared it, we revealed the secret behind the band: SDIA = AIDS (spelled backwards) Instantly, people turned from passive music fans to active players in a social campaign. Results Hours of innocent radio content became a meaningful message. AIDS became part of the talk again. +75% media coverage of World Aids Day vs. 2009. Curated by The School of Life and powered by Highpoint Shopping Centre, the festival brought together leading voices from across arts, education, sport, culture and commerce. Designed around the guiding themes of wisdom, resilience and social change, THINK WEST tapped into the energy of Melbourne’s western suburbs to explore questions that matter to everyday life. Over two weeks, more than 40 events unfolded across iconic and unexpected venues. From the Melbourne Planetarium to Footscray Community Arts Centre, from intimate workshops to headline conversations.
